Bathrooms and kitchens are damp rooms by definition, so providing proper ventilation is imperative, both for the occupant's health and for the bathroom itself. Extractor fans renew the ambient air in a room, which limits the emergence of any condensation and the appearance of mould all the while reducing the humidity level.
Without having effective ventilation in a shower or bathroom where the air is humid, condensation will form and can cause the room to become saturated and mouldy. Extractor fans quickly remove moist air from the bathroom during and after bathing to prevent condensation.
We do not recommend placing any of our products in a dishwasher as it may cause damage.

Condensation occurs when warm air collides with cold surfaces, or when there's too much humidity in your home. When this moisture-packed warm air comes into contact with a chilly surface, it cools down quickly and releases the water, which turns into liquid droplets on the cold surface. Condensation is caused by a build-up of excess moisture that has nowhere to escape so forms on walls and ceilings.
Extractor fans by design eliminate excess moisture in the air which in turn removes condensation keeping your home well ventilated. High power inline fans work hard at eliminating this moisture and keeping your home condensation free.

Extractor fans play an important role in reducing the amount of moist air that can escape from a damp room into the rest of the house which helps prevent condensation. Extractor fans should always vent to the exterior of the building, otherwise the moist air that they remove from a bathroom or kitchen will simply be deposited elsewhere in the house and create a condensation or damp problem there.
The minimum extraction rate for an intermittent bathroom fan is 54m³/hr (15l/s) once installed. It is important to ensure the correct fan is specified and installed correctly. For instance, a bathroom with no openable window or no window at all (internal room), the fan should run on for a minimum of 15 minutes. Lengths of flexible ducting should be kept to a minimum and pulled taught.
The minimum extraction rate for an intermittent kitchen fan can depends on the location of the fan. When installed adjacent to the hob, the fan should extract a minimum of 108m³/hr (30l/s), otherwise this is increased to 216m³/hr (60l/s).
All extract fans should extract to atmosphere. Therefore, where a kitchen is fitted with a recirculating cooker hood an additional extract fan would be required.
The ventilation rates for continuous running extract fans differ from intermittent rates. These rates will differ depending on the size of the dwelling and room type. A ventilation specialist would be able to advise further on these systems.
Although building regulations do not stipulate a fan is required in a bathroom with an openable window, you should still install one if possible. While a window can help you reduce the amount of moist air in the building, it does not provide the same level of airflow to the exterior of the house that a fan would, and which makes a window much less effective at preventing condensation.
