The British Plumbing Employers Council (BPEC) have given approval to EnviroVent to become an approved Training Centre for the new Domestic Ventilation Training Programme.
The British Plumbing Employers Council (BPEC) is the leading certification body for industries that fall within the building services sector, such as plumbing, gas, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. BPEC’s training material includes training packs, as in the case of Gas and Water Safety regulations, to manuals for renewable energy sources such as Heat Pumps. Certificates issued by the BPEC are recognised by most Microgeneration Certification Scheme operators and by Gas Safe Register. BPEC encourages individuals to hone and update their skills continuously, for personal and professional development.
Following the significant changes to Approved Document F (ADF) of the Building Regulations, domestic ventilation has now become a ‘Notifiable Work’. This means that all ventilation provision in new build properties must now be commissioned by a suitably qualified person resulting in a brand new vocation– the Domestic Ventilation Installer. Darren Chadwick, EnviroVent’s Installations Director explains, “The Competent Persons Scheme is designed to meet the requirements outlined in the Domestic Ventilation Compliance Guide 2010 for the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning and provision of information for fixed domestic ventilation systems into both new and existing residential buildings.
The syllabus covers the theory behind ventilation systems as well as including practical exercises such as the commissioning of a Heat Recovery system. At the end of the course, there is a multiple choice assessment which each individual candidate needs to pass at the end of the course to become a BPEC Certified Ventilation Installer.”
Recognised by both HVCA and the NICEIC, the two day course is open all external candidates who have a number of years experience in plumbing, heating or electrical engineering or alternatively who either have or are in the process of completing NVQ Level 3 in plumbing, heating or electrical engineering.
This is an opportunity for those wanting to improve their knowledge and skills, especially since the revisions to the Building Regulations and the introduction of the Domestic Building Services Compliance Guide (in association with Approved Document F), which saw Domestic Ventilation become a ‘notifiable work’. This now means that all ventilation provision for new build properties has to be commissioned by a suitably qualified person, leaving thousands of installers without the necessary qualification out in the cold.
The 2 day course, which covers both theoretical and practical training, is recognised by the HVCA and NICEIC for both existing and new build properties. The comprehensive course focuses on the five core types of Domestic Ventilation Systems and offers trainees the opportunity to expand their knowledge by learning to install the most common types of domestic ventilation products, inspect and test systems and provide information on various ventilation systems.
BPEC is the leading provider of training and certification for the Building Services Engineering sector, aiming to help electricians, M&E contractors, plumbers, heating contractors, student apprentices and specialist merchants to broaden their current skill set and become recognised within the sector. As a result of the 2010 revisions to Part F of the Building Regulations, the installation of domestic ventilation became a ‘notifiable work’. Just like installing heating and plumbing systems, domestic ventilation must now be installed by someone who is qualified. Focusing on the 5 main types of domestic ventilation, the 2 day course covers both theoretical and practical training and covers the following:
There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course which each candidate must pass. Our BPEC training courses are recognised by the HVCA and NICEIC for fixed domestic ventilation systems for both existing and new build properties.
